The need for a dedicated service

Tecnofer SpA has been providing pest control services for over 25 years, establishing itself as one of the pioneers in this field. The quality of our service, the precision of our work and the use of highly specialised staff are standard features of our business; what remains extraordinary, however, is the passion with which we carry out our work.

Mechanised mowing service

Weed control carried out by qualified personnel is essential for maintaining the structural integrity of the railway infrastructure, ensuring the safe movement of rolling stock and guaranteeing the proper functioning of the various systems. Tecnofer SpA actively manages weed control, operating in full compliance with regulations and adopting the most effective solutions appropriate to the context.

Manual mowing service

Weed control carried out by qualified personnel is essential for maintaining the stability of railway infrastructure, ensuring the safe movement of rolling stock and the proper functioning of the various systems. The service is carried out across a wide range of scenarios, from herbaceous plants with flowers beneficial to the ecosystem to weeds or invasive species. Tecnofer SpA is able to actively manage weed control in compliance with regulations and by applying the best solution for the specific context.

Plant Protection Treatment

Weed control is also carried out using plant protection products – whether eco-sustainable, experimental or traditional – depending on the most suitable solution. Tecnofer SpA has been a pioneer in this field. Today, thanks to its extensive knowledge base and highly qualified staff dedicated exclusively to this service, Tecnofer SpA is able to ensure effective weed control using authorised mixtures and products. The choice of the best application method is the responsibility of the technical department, in conjunction with the planning department; the spraying methods and functionality of the spraying machinery, such as Weed Control Trains or Road-Rail Trucks, are instead the responsibility of the workshop and construction department, which carries out careful checks before, during and after the vehicles are in operation. Through external partnerships and artificial intelligence, we are able to actively map treatments and monitor the vegetation’s response, thereby reducing waste and minimising our environmental impact.

Regeneration of brownfield sites

Without a careful and precise approach to the work, it is impossible to achieve an outstanding result. Tecnofer SpA is actively involved in the regeneration of green spaces through the removal of invasive self-sown vegetation, giving marginal or derelict areas a new lease of life. This service, which also reflects the requirements of the National C.A.M.s, enables clients to improve the areas they own, thereby ensuring the protection of the custodian and the active regeneration of the site.

Preservation of railway artefacts

Bridges, tunnel entrances and even simple manhole covers are essential functional components of the railway. Their stability and functionality are key factors in the proper implementation of the weed management service. Tecnofer SpA is, in fact, able to actively carry out the removal of spontaneous weed growth that develops in the crevices of engineering structures, which, over time, can pose a potential risk to the stability or functionality of the structure. With rock climbers, tree climbers and operators qualified to use aerial work platforms, Tecnofer SpA is able to operate in almost any required environment.

Integred Weed Managment

Tecnofer SpA adopts the IWM (Integrated Weed Management) methodology, which involves an integrated approach to weed control. The use of this strategy is a key strength of Tecnofer SpA, which employs agronomic, physical and eco-sustainable techniques to minimise the use of plant protection products. The use of highly advanced technologies, the deployment of state-of-the-art machinery equipped with the most innovative spraying systems, green area recognition and partial mapping, enables weed control services to be carried out in a precise and environmentally sustainable manner.

Step 1

Inspection and definition of activities

Before carrying out vegetation control activities, it is necessary to assess the context of the work from both an environmental and a regulatory perspective. In particular, the inspection and planning process is based on an understanding of current regulations and the main plant species, whether they are native, introduced or invasive.

Step 2

Coordination and planning of interventions

Tecnofer coordinates works with clients to minimise disruption and inconvenience. The planning takes into account the specific characteristics of the sites and the works, ensuring efficiency and optimisation of activities within complex programmes

Step 3

Carrying out the work

We carry out vegetation control measures – whether physical, chemical or agronomic – using staff who are highly specialised in the railway sector. Dedicated software enables remote monitoring of worksites, facilitating mapping, monitoring and continuous reporting, with immediate support provided where necessary

Step 4

Monitoring and auditing

Once vegetation control work has been completed, inspections and audits are carried out to assess the quality and effectiveness of the work, freedom of movement, and possible future actions, such as extending the areas at risk or implementing phytosanitary measures.
